Bodylastics vs. Bowflex
Let's start with the comparison of Bodylastics versus Bowflex systems that use "power rod" resistance. These older Bowflex models use "power rods" as their source of resistance. Power rods create resistance when they are bent similar to when you are bending a bow to launch an arrow, hence the name "Bowflex". The power rods in the Bowflex are not bent directly when you exercise, they are connected to cables which are then fed through fly wheels to create a pulley system. The bottom line: For years I said that our product was the $50 alternative to Bowflex. Although I had never tried a Bowflex first hand, I was able to say this because I knew how well our system worked, and I knew the basic principles of power rod resistance. Eventually Bowflex started selling through different distribution channels like Costco and Sports Authority. Due to this, I was able to give them a test drive first hand. The day that I tried a Bowflex machine I walked out of the store with one of the biggest smiles that I have had in a long time. Why? Simply because I was totally disappointed with my competition. I used to say that Bodylastics was the $50 Alternative to Bowflex? Well I am going to tell you that my belief was incorrect. Once I actually tried a Bowflex with Power Rod resistance my feelings changed. I knew instantly that our system was a BETTER alternative to the Bowflex! I was totally unimpressed with the power rod resistance. In my short "test drive", the Bowflex created uneven resistance and the fly wheel movement was not smooth. This is not only my opinion. I have heard this from many of our customers as well. Bodylastics resistance is as smooth as you can get. There are no fly wheels, no pulley systems, you are simply stretching the highest quality latex tubes that money can buy. Bowflex Revolution: Now let's fast forward to today and compare Bodylastics to the newest Bowflex System, the revolution. The new revolution systems use round disks that contain a complicated structure of elastic flat bands. Firstly, the fact that Bowflex moved their resistance to elastics for their top of the line gym systems only confirms what I stated above. They realized the benefits of elastic bands just as we had done ten years earlier. HOWEVER, similar to the older bowflex machines you do not pull or push directly from the source of resistance. The elastic disks transfer the tension through a series of fly wheels and cables. This most definitely will have a negative impact on how smooth your workouts will feel. That being said...Let me reiterate: YOU CANNOT FIND SMOOTHER RESISTANCE FOR YOUR WOKOUTS THAN WITH BODYLASTICS ELASTIC HOME GYMS...PERIOD! |
